WELCOME TO THE 1958 CAFé

In 1958, Jim and Mae Day, along with their son Gary and his wife Joyce, opened the doors to what would become a cornerstone of the Belgrade Lakes community. What began as a humble general store has grown into a cherished gathering place—rooted in family, built on tradition, and fueled by generations of love for this special spot on the lake.

Diane Day, daughter of Gary and Joyce, and her husband Kerry carried the torch for over three decades—infusing Day’s Store with heart, hard work, and the kind of hospitality that keeps people coming back year after year.

Now, their daughter Melissa and her husband Kirt have dreamed the 1958 Café to life—an ode to those who came before and a gift for the seasons still to come. This next chapter celebrates evolution, creativity, and the power of dreaming new dreams—while honoring the legacy that made it all possible.

Whether you’re starting your day with a hot cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast, taking a midday break with friends, or winding down over dinner with family, we hope the Café becomes part of your summer rhythm—just as Day’s Store has been for generations.

Thank you for being part of our story.
